Competitive Events

Event Types

Events can come in several types, mainly objective tests, presentations, productions, and role-play events. Objective tests are simply an online test administered at the conference to prove proficiency in a particular subject area. Presentation events are prepared beforehand and presented to a panel of judges on the day of the conference in order to determine placing. Production tests consist of a pre-examination and a post-examination. In role-play events, a team is tested individually. If their collective average score is high enough to place in the finals, they then must answer an extemperaneous prompt and will be judged by a panel of judges to determine their final placing.

Prize Money

Competitors that perform well enough to advance to the top three at the National Leadership Conference will be awarded prize money. $400 will go towards the first place winner, $300 towards the 2nd place winner, and $200 towards the 3rd place winner. For teams, this money will be split among each team member (ex. a team of two people that placed 3rd would recieve $100 each).

Eligibility

FBLA High School events are eligible for competitors between two categories, upperclassmen and underclassmen.
Underclassmen can join upperclassmen events, but upperclassmen cannot join underclassmen events. Keep in mind this will increase your competition by a significant margin.
